SO. WHAT’S A “KIRKPATRICK”?
Well . . . it was my 95-year-old grandmother’s maiden name, passed on to me 43 years ago. And I’ve had it ever since. And don’t intend to let go. So. Welcome to our Pub!

And it is, “our” pub – not a franchise, not part of a chain, but locally owned and operated. How local? Well, I was born in McLean, grew up in Reston (Forest Edge Elementary, Herndon HS, Class of 1982). I did get out of town for a while: five years in the Marine bCorps (Special Operations) followed by four years at Kent State University (Political Science major; go figure!), but came back home to Virginia. Worked on the Hill as a registered lobbyist for the hospitality industry. And then decided to strike out on my own and open the kind of “hospitality center” (Pub) where, if I were a patron, I would want to spend my leisure hours..

I was trained in Pub Management by the Guinness people – in Dublin – and they strongly recommend that menus present some sort of “origin story.” So, what brought me to this place? I don’t really have a story. I had this crazy idea, I wanted to have my own Irish Pub, to honor – or more likely, to take advantage of – my Irish heritage. In our Pub, you are surrounded by the magnificent work of a team of fourth-generation craftsmen in Dublin, installed in Ashburn by a team of Irish carpenters. You can feel the Irish heart beating in every nook and cranny. And here we are!

But we take our “local connection” seriously, and hope always to be good corporate citizens. We’ve helped to raise public awareness – and funds – for the American Stroke Association, American Cancer Society, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Breast Cancer Awareness, the Brad Kaminsky Foundation for Brain Tumor Research. We support Girl Scout Troop 219, programs of the Knights of Columbus, the PTA and other organizations at Ashburn schools.

Currently, we sponsor two “Kirkpatrick’s” adult softball teams, two adult hockey teams (well, I play on one of them, so it may not count in the “corporate citizen” category), one youth girls softball team, one youth boys football team – and the National Champion Flag Football Team. Our sponsorship didn’t make them Champs, but they make us proud!

Any comments or complaints, please let me know. About the food, beverages, service, entertainment. Send me an email --- kp@kirkpatrickspub.com

On behalf of myself and my Father (he’s not related to the Kirkpatricks but a decent enough fellow) and myself – Slainte!
